The furniture, the description:
Vienna, circa 1810. Very rare and admirable Viennese Secretaire from the First Empire period in practically intact condition, in original patina and polishing. It is finely veneered in walnut feather; Interiors in maple and maple painted masterfully with a pen (typical technique of the Viennese Viennese Empire). Lower part moved on the front, with two doors that conceal compartments veneered in maple feather and a drawer veneered in cherry. Particular top for writing standing and second internal top concealed by a drawer, with original leather upholstery of the time. Intact caryatids carved and gilded with leaf. Particular ebonized parts. Egyptian mythological figures embossed in brass. Height 137.5, width cm. 103 depth 43.5-82 open. In museum-like condition. The Viennese interpretation of the Empire style is considered the most precious and rare ever made. This is because it is identified by a sober and elegant representation of the "retour d'égypte" unlike the French one which is monumental, pompous, boxy and overflowing with gilded bronzes.
In museum-like condition, in original patina and polishing, refreshed with a shellac finish applied with a pad using a museum standard technique.
