A magnificent view of the Grand Canal captured from the Rialto Bridge, with the imposing mass of the Palazzo delle Fabbriche Nuove overlooking the iridescent waters of the canal.
The elongated shape of the painting makes the splendid perspective of the two rows of palaces particularly evocative, converging towards the center of the canvas with excellent volumetric rendering.
The Author configures the work in a perfectly symmetrical manner, dividing it into three long horizontal bands.
The famous Buildings on the banks of the Grand Canal stand out decisively, separating the bright blue sky from the green waters of the canal, filled with typical Venetian boats.
The symmetry of the view is emphasized by a perfectly horizontal gondola in the center of the scene and by the two bell towers that peek out at the sides of the canvas.
The painting exhibits all the characteristics of the finest 18th-century Venetian vedutismo, and its author effectively reinterprets the style.
The work particularly refers to the views of Antonio Canal, known as Canaletto, considered the supreme master and progenitor of this very famous school.
Among the paintings executed by 19th-century Venetian painters inspired by the eighteenth century, this one certainly stands out for its extremely fine, clean, and precise image quality in all architectural details, with a very realistic effect of the spectacular view.
The work is still on its original canvas on the original stretcher and has old labels on the back referring to passages in the antique market last century.
