Ornamental painting with vase of flowers and putti from the late 19th century
Oil on canvas in a new carved and gilded wooden frame, with shaped passe-partout cm 84x67
Excellent state of preservation
The painting presents a refined composition with a decorative taste, typical of late nineteenth-century pictorial production, characterized by elegant references to the Rococo and Neo-Baroque language. At the center of the scene is a richly decorated vase containing a polychrome floral bouquet, composed of roses and garden flowers, rendered with chromatic delicacy and attention to botanical details.
In the upper part emerge putti figures and idealized architectural elements, immersed in a barely hinted landscape, which contribute to giving the work an evocative and eighteenth-century atmosphere.
The background, characterized by blue and green tones, gives depth and brightness to the whole, highlighting the central subject and reinforcing the compositional balance. The brushstroke appears soft and controlled, with particular attention to decorative effects and the rendering of gilding.
The work fits into the eclectic and decorative trend of late nineteenth-century painting, when there was a renewed fortune of Rococo stylistic features and ornamental compositions destined for bourgeois and aristocratic environments. The painting reflects an aesthetic sensibility oriented to elegance, formal grace and the decorative value of the image.
