Sterling silver ewer with lid, vermeil interior, Queen Victoria, Samuel Smily Goldsmiths Alliance, London, 1868. This splendid lidded ewer is an unusual shape, made of heavy gauge silver, featuring smooth surfaces highlighted by bold decorative floral and geometric motifs and cartouches on either side of the ewer's body. A hinged lid with a domed surface and decorations that echo the theme of the ewer's body. The handle features cast, chiseled and applied ornaments. Short spout, circular base. Vermeil silver interior.
