1825-30 approx. Rare Bohemian Biedermeier chalice, in transparent crystal called "Annagruen-Uranové sklo", with a characteristic fluorescent green - yellow color. Wheel engravings on the 4 sides, depicting sources from "Karlsbad", current Karlovivary", Western Bohemia. Inscription at the base "souvenir from Karlsbad". In perfect condition. Bohemia, second quarter of the 19th century. Height 14.7 cm. Literature: Johann Kraftner. Glass und Farbe. Das Boemisches Glas - Passauer Glasmuseum, Pazourek - Galser der Biedermeierzeit. Height cm. 14.3. In perfect condition. The invention of Uranglas glass was by Josef Riedel, a great master, artist and entrepreneur, nicknamed King of Glass of the Jizera Mountains (Sudetenland, northern Bohemia). The invention was dedicated to his partner Anna, who became his wife in 1840. Made in various shades from fluorescent green (Annagruen) to yellow (Annagelb). This type of fluorescent glass became very popular in 19th-century Europe. The first artifacts of this type of refined workmanship are very rare and sought after.
