19th Century Antique Paintings of Landscapes with Sheep and Shepherd, Oil on Canvas. (QP712)  Translated
Description:
Category: Antique Paintings, Landscape with Flock and Shepherd, offers an Oil Painting on Canvas from the 19th century. Antique landscape paintings, a serene pastoral scene immersed in the tranquility of nature, with a flock of sheep grazing, accompanied by a shepherd and his dog in a natural rural landscape. The artwork displays a refined naturalistic landscape painting, with attention to the details of the animals, the rendering of light, and the perspective depth of the vast river landscape in the background. The composition is harmonious and typical of the 19th-century European realist tradition. The brushwork is careful and measured, capable of sensitively rendering the texture of the sheep's fleece and the softness of the grass. The antique artwork is signed on the lower left by J. Kornbeck, a German landscape painter. Hermann Julius Kornbeck (1839-1920) was a German landscape painter, born in Winnenden into a wealthy family: his father Johann Franz Wilhelm Kornbeck was a high court official. From a young age, he showed a strong inclination for drawing and art. Around the age of 25, he dedicated himself entirely to painting and, in 1864-1865, attended Heinrich Funk's landscape painting school at the Kunstschule in Stuttgart, where he created his first major painting depicting the village of Baach. He also studied in Munich and Düsseldorf, then vibrant centers of landscape painting. During these years, he developed his realistic-naturalistic art, favoring plein air painting—that is, painting directly from nature—a choice that characterized his entire career. One of his works is exhibited at the Stuttgart museum. The oil painting is presented in a beautiful original gilded frame. German School. The antique painting and the frame have been professionally and meticulously restored. YOUTUBE VIDEO: https://youtu.be/F_oeD90xj74 Bibliography: E. Bénézit.
