Interesting sculpture of the Madonna and Child surmounted by crowns, reproducing the simulacrum of the Madonna of Trapani attributed to the workshop of Pisano.
This votive sculpture could have been carved between the end of the 15th century and the first decades of the 16th century The area of production should be that of the Gagini workshop, an illustrious family of sculptor artists originally from Ticino and active first in Genoa and then they reached Calabria and especially Sicily, where through their works they gave a strong contribution in the development of a "Renaissance" language on the island.
The statuette has visible traces of gold highlights.
The crown of the Madonna and a portion of the corner to the left of the base appear to have been reconstructed with other materials in ancient times.
Its size is 32 cm.
We enclose a guarantee of historical authenticity of the work with the sale.
