Giovanni David (Cabella AL 1749 Genova 1790) Classical scene, tempera depicting a scene with a classical setting, typical of Giovanni David's theatrical and scenographic production.
The composition shows a group of figures in ancient robes, in particular a warrior in a good-natured attitude in front of two women with children, set in a bright landscape with camps, temples and neoclassical architectures. The technique, mixed with tempera and watercolour, with touches of whitewash and light glazes, is consistent with the preparatory studies and scenographic sketches of the artist.
Work of refined quality, representative of the Genoese neoclassical taste of the second half of the eighteenth century.
