Léon Laurent Galand (1872–1960) was born in Montpellier, France, in 1872 and died in 1960 in Clichy-la-Garenne.
He was a student of Cormon, Gustave Moreau, and Blanch. During his career, he exhibited regularly in
Paris at the Salon des Artistes Français, receiving many awards and medals, including a gold medal in the early 20th century.
Many of the painter's works are preserved in the Montpellier museum. He was decorated with the Légion d’honneur.
The antique painting has a gilded frame, contemporaneous with the work.
