Refined work very close to the great Bohemian master with figures in motion of great realism. Height 19.5 cm, width 9.5 cm. Franz Anton Pelikan (1786 - 1858), together with August Bohm, was a great artist and the best glass cutter of Meisterdorf. Born into a family of glass artists for 150 years. He worked in his youth with his brother Anton who died young at the age of 27. He participated with a masterpiece in 1831 at the Universal Exhibition of Art and Technology (similar to our EXPO), held in Prague, where he obtained great recognition, and then in 1836 an imperial medal. Franz Anton Pelikan was the teacher of August Bohm, who often used his models. From 1854 he opened his own large factory in Haida (Novì Bor), where he employed 83 glass artisans. His works are preserved in museums in Prague, Vienna, Duessendorf and in some prestigious private collections. Literature: Das Boemische Glas Band II. Passauer Glasmuseum. Brosova Buqouy, Spiegl.
