Large engraving depicting the Battle of Eylau from a subject by Carl Vernet and engraved by J.J. Wolff. The engraving depicts the battle between the Russian army commanded by Levin von Bennigsen and Napoleon Bonaparte's Grande Armée in 1807, and is dedicated to the French cavalry general Jean Joseph Anse d' Hautpoul who died there from serious injuries sustained. The engraving is set in a beautiful gilded frame, Empire period, decorated with gilded stucco appliqué. Work signed in the bottom right margin.
