The precious mirror with mother-of-pearl inlays within the lacquered and gilded frame with crest and precious volute detailing on the tortoiseshell background is a refined combination of lacquer and mother-of-pearl from the city of Venice. Along the oval edge of the frame lie interspersed carvings, sculpted and gilded to embellish the convex band.
The work is attributed to Domenico Rossetti, an eclectic architect, engraver, carver, and inlayer.
