Charles Louis Eugène Signoret (1867-1932) was born in Marseille, but later studied in Paris where he was a student of Gabriel Ferrier, Jean Paul Laurens, and Jules Lefebvre. He began exhibiting his works at the "Salon Des Artistes Français" and received an honor in 1898. Other medals were awarded to him over time; in 1910, he received the important "Raigecourt-Goyon" prize, in 1914, a silver medal, and finally in 1920, he was awarded the gold medal.
The antique painting has a carved and lacquered wooden frame, contemporary to the work.
The beautiful frame and antique canvas have been accurately and professionally cleaned and restored.
