Italian plaster sculpture depicting Moses inspired by Michelangelo, early 1900s. This plaster work recreates one of the masterpieces of Renaissance art, Michelangelo's Moses, inspired by the original larger-than-life marble sculpture made by Michelangelo Buonarroti (1475-1564). Created in the 16th century for the funerary monument of Julius II, preserved in the Basilica of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. The figure of the biblical prophet has some small missing parts in addition to the right arm and has a warm, dark and grayish patina, probably due to old coloring. Iron reinforcements are visible at the corners of the lower base. It comes from a private collection and dates back to the first half of the 1900s.
