Magnificent pair of painted and glazed majolica ewers. Both ewers feature an ovoid body resting on a high foot, corresponding at the top to a long neck ending in an elaborate ship-shaped spout. The ewers have an elaborate handle shaped like a sinuously posed wyvern, with a long neck, wings, and legs, while the forked tail extends above a mask with a male face. The splendid historiated decoration covers the entire surface of the vases with a vertical pattern that develops from the ground to the sky, focusing on wonderful mythological scenes. These are objects of great charm and elegance, capable of decorating any environment with taste and a touch of antiquity. Urbino manufacture, second half of the 19th century.
