Pair of kneeling angels in carved and gilded wood. Central Italy, 17th century. VISIBLE AT MERCANTE IN FIERA, STAND C 32 HALL 3.  Translated
Description:
We attach to the sale of the works a guarantee certificate that attests to its age and authenticity. A rare and valuable pair of kneeling angels in carved and gilded wood. The artifacts were made with meticulous carving quality by a talented carver, who in addition to having loaded the devout composition with the necessary pathos by stubbornly modeling the positions of the angels in prayer, masterfully reported some details such as the faces, the thick curls of the hair and the draping of the tunics. The scope of these angels is that of the Papal State during the 17th century, in the height of the Baroque period. The objects show no obvious restorations and retain the original gilding. Unfortunately, over time they have almost completely lost their carved wings. The measurements of the angels are 26cm in length x 25 cm in height.
