The scene depicts a group of farmers collecting baskets of flowers, making music and dancing to the sound of bagpipes and tambourines, and some taking the opportunity to court each other. It is therefore a rural folk festival, a subject among Barucci's favorites, a Roman painter who mainly depicted daily life in the countryside. His almost total love for nature, the most genuine, barren and realistic nature of the Roman countryside and outskirts, led him to become one of the leading exponents of the rustic style. The luminosity and liveliness of the colors enhance the festive flavor of the scene, highlighting the lightheartedness and serenity of this moment of popular life. The work is presented in a period-style frame.
