The carved and gilded wooden structure is distinguished by its simple design, rich in details: festoons, rosettes, acanthus leaves and pearl motifs that recall the canons of classical antiquity, reinterpreted with the grace and lightness typical of Genoese production of the period.
The tapered and fluted legs are joined in the center by a carved crosspiece, a structural and decorative element, which gives balance and verticality to the furniture. The gray-bluish Bardiglio marble top, shaped to follow the corner, harmonizes perfectly with the warm gilding of the wood, creating an elegant textural and chromatic contrast.
Consoles of this type were often placed in representative environments, such as vestibules or corners of noble halls, and testify to the cosmopolitan and cultured taste of the Genoese clientele of the late eighteenth century, open to Parisian influences but firmly rooted in the local decorative tradition.
