Alessandro Lupo, "Horse," oil on panel, signed, 20th Century  Translated
Description:
Alessandro Lupo, "Horse," oil on panel, signed, 20th Century. Alessandro Lupo (1876-1953) Year: First half of the 20th century Technique: Oil on panel Signature: Signed lower right "A. Lupo" On the back: Autograph dedication by the artist with signature and date "Turin, 1943" Dimensions with frame: H 52 x W 42 x D 7 / Panel 29 x 19.5 cm. Artwork description: The work depicts a draft horse, portrayed from behind but slightly rotated, in a plastic pose that highlights the strength and muscular tension of the animal. The painting, executed in oil on panel, is characterized by a full-bodied, energetic and textural brushstroke, typical of Alessandro Lupo's mature production. The rapid, overlapping and color-laden brushstrokes restore a sense of vibrant movement and at the same time a sculptural three-dimensionality. Alessandro Lupo, a pupil of Giacomo Grosso and active mainly in Turin, was known for his mountain landscapes, rural scenes and working animals. The presence of the dedication on the back, dated Turin 1943, also makes the work particularly interesting from a collecting and documentary point of view. The painting is presented in a period gilt frame, richly carved, which enhances its chromatic vibrancy and traditional taste.  Translated
