Beautiful large oil on canvas painting, 100 x 130 cm, depicting a landscape with figures of children playing, adults, and livestock in a spring mountain setting. The painter has portrayed the places most congenial to him, managing to establish a connection between nature and people. The children hidden behind the rock in the riverbed represent the games of his childhood. The painting has been relined but repositioned on its original frame; the frame is only for support and appears to be datable to the period of the relining, around the 1960s. Signed and dated 1842 in the lower left.
