Rare noblewoman's toilet, of high Viennese cabinetmaking from the 18th century, veneered and finely inlaid with figurative motifs, in walnut feather, cherry, ash, maple, plum, walnut and poplar burr, and other fruit woods, in original patina. The figurative inlay of rare beauty and masterly quality is made using a mixed technique (pyrograph, engravings, inlays in painted wood, brush). It depicts gallant scenes of a noblewoman contested in a duel between knights in the base, while on the back of the reclining top that houses the mirror (also original), the winner is kneeling in front of the lady who is asking for his hand. Next to her is a graceful little dog, typical of the nobility of the time. Other decorative motifs, including pine cones and acanthus, enrich the scene. With a drawer where jewels and necessaries were kept. A work of high Viennese cabinetmaking from the first half of the 18th century; of great charm and very "personal". It gives goosebumps to think which princess or high noble lady was reflected and made up in it. Height cm. 73. Width 49. Depth 37. Rare work in practically intact condition, in original patina and polishing, in excellent un-restored condition.
