Giancarlo Pignataro was born in 1958 in Albanella, near Paestum, and trained in Rome where he graduated from the Art High School. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome and Perugia. From a young age, he received appreciation and encouragement to continue his work from various established artists such as Annigoni, Ziveri, and Riccardo Tommasi Ferroni. Giancarlo Pignataro, a highly regarded artist, dedicates himself to painting, executed with various techniques ranging from fresco, to tempera, oil and sculpture made with various materials including terracotta, marble and bronze. The portrait executed "from life" in both painting and sculpture holds particular importance in Giancarlo Pignataro's work.
