Important work by the Lombard painter Enrico Bartezago (1820 - 1905).
The romantic scene of girls with a cow at the fountain emanates a great sense of serenity and calm. The brushstroke is sure and of great freshness. The composition is balanced. In the back we see the village with the church. The texts say that he painted in the Sesia Valley. This could be the church of Alagna. The play of light is remarkable.
High quality painting.
Oil on canvas 85 x 130 cm, with a more recent frame that complements it very well 100 x 149 cm. Signed lower right.
Work probably created in the second half of the 19th century.
