Romano Alberti known as Nero Alberti from Sansepolcro (1502-1568)  Translated
Dimensions: : 90 cm
Description:
Romano Alberti known as Nero Alberti from Sansepolcro (1502-1568) "Pair of candle-bearing pages" Material: wood and mixed media Height cm 90 These beautiful sculptures are part of a well-known group of objects widespread between Umbria, Marche, and Tuscany. These are wooden and polymaterial sculptures, in which various poor materials were used in addition to wood, in particular, tow and animal glues, to finish and decorate the statues, often modeled without clothes and then added with fabrics, papier-mâché, and metal sheets to make the simulacrum richer and more mimetic. The figure of Romano Alberti from Sansepolcro, known as Nero, and his artistic production - with particular regard to studies on the execution technique - have been reconstructed in the round by Cristina Galassi starting from the monographic exhibition in Umbertide in 2005. The master's catalog is full of polymaterial mannequins, more properly defined as "to be dressed" statues, depicting Saint Rocco, the risen Christ, the Madonna, the blessing Child Jesus, but also saints, female figures, and candle-bearing angels.  Translated
