Description:
Antique and large Sardinian basket (cm. Ø85) 15 cm high, called Sa crobi, handmade in the 30s in the Campidanese area: warp in wheat stalks and weft in rush with a green brocade bottom (cm. Ø30) called s`impanna, with which Sardinian costumes are made. The differences in the material used depended on the areas of origin: the intertwining with warp in wheat stalks and weft in rush fibers belonged to the areas of Campidano, Cagliari, Oristano, Marmilla and Trexenta, while the baskets with warp and weft in asphodel were made in areas with plateaus such as Planargia, Montiferru, Ogliastra, Ollolai while, in coastal areas, i.e. Alghero, Logudoro, Gallura used dwarf palm. The antique Sardinian basket is finished around the edge with red tape (today, being a hundred years old, it is faded) and, around s'impanna, it is decorated with red wool tape with geometric designs: it is in a good state of conservation: to see the processing of Sardinian baskets click
