ANTIQUE PAINTINGS LANDSCAPES AND RIVER, CORREZE VALLEY, DIDIER POUGET, OIL ON CANVAS, EARLY 20TH CENTURY. (QP657)  Translated
Description:
(QP657) The Antique Paintings category, Landscape with Hills, offers an Oil Painting on Canvas from the early 20th century or late 19th century depicting the "Vallée de la Corrèze" in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region of France. These are landscape paintings that depict a valley, a bend in a river with an infinite horizon, places that the painter loved to paint and that convey tranquility and peace. The work is signed in the lower right by Didier Pouget, a French landscape painter who loved to paint outdoors and especially the south of France. William Didier Pouget (1864-1959) was born in Toulouse and began his career as an artist in 1886 when he participated in the "Salon de Paris". He studied at the "Des Beaux-Arts" school in Toulouse and then at the "Académie de Paris", considered close to the Impressionist painters. He became a member of the "Société Des Artistes Français", met and frequented many important artists including Jean Baptiste Corot. His river landscapes are rich in poetry and the painter usually prefers to capture the light of sunset or dawn, painting the figure of the tree in a dark and decisive color in contrast to the clear light of the sky. From 1903 Didier-Pouget exhibited in the United States where he was highly appreciated. Many works by this important artist are exhibited in many museums. The oil painting is adorned with a beautiful gilded frame in pure gold leaf from the same period as the painting. The frame and antique canvas have been carefully and professionally restored. www.bisgart.com Bisgart Collection Bibliography: Bénézit and Gérald Schurr & Pierre Cabanne, Dictionnaire des Petits Maîtres de la peinture 1820-1920. *** Canvas size: 55 x 38 cm Size with frame: 76 x 59 cm Depth: 9 cm Weight: 6 Kg  Translated
