The subject, Saint John the Baptist, is placed in a scene of great visual impact, surrounded by Baroque-style ornamental motifs that enrich the work. Noteworthy is the refined workmanship of the bronze with a silvered patina that enhances the sculptural details and decorative applications, such as the cherubs and floral motifs, represented with a high level of mastery, typical of Roman artistic production of the time.
