Description:
(STAN92) The Antique Sculpture, from the 1930s, depicts a Warrior powerfully pulling a rope. The artwork presented here is made of Antimony metal and was created in the first half of the twentieth century. Art Deco. The sculpture has its original 20th-century green patina and rests on a stone base. The work expresses strength, elegance, and physical agility and is signed M. Le Verrier, a French sculptor. Louis Octave Maxime Le Verrier (1891-1973), but more commonly known as Max Le Verrier, was one of the first to participate in the Art Deco movement in Paris, France. Le Verrier studied at the University of Art and Design in Geneva, and his teachers were Marcel Bouraine and Pierre Le Faguays. He returned to Paris in 1919. In 1925, he exhibited his sculptures at the "Exposition internationale des Arts décoratifs et industriels modernes" in Paris, where he won a gold medal. His first popular sculpture is a pelican, in 1925.
