Description:
Measurements: cm. h. 93x42x18, shelf cm. h. 39x50x27. French manufacture, signed on the dial and on the back plate: "Thiout Le Jeune Paris". Nicolas Thiout, called the younger to distinguish him from his brother Charles, became a master in 1733, died in 1772. Case veneered in tortoiseshell, with applications of chiseled and gilded bronze in paint. On top a statuette of a cherub, missing an element in his left hand. On the door an allegorical scene. Espagnolettes feet. Gilded and chiseled bronze dial, with enameled cartouches of the hours in black Roman numerals and on the outside, also on enameled cartouches (two missing), the minutes in multiples of five in Arabic numerals, in the center enameled disc with the signature. Steel lance hands. Square movement with two winding barrels, one for the time the other for the chime. Hour and half hour chime on a bell by means of a dividing wheel with the numbers from 1 to 12 engraved in Arabic numerals. Thread suspended pendulum. Original shelf with harpy decoration.
