Elegant set of four Directoire style chairs, made of solid walnut, from Veneto and dating back to the very early years of the 19th century.
The chairs have an arched backrest with a lateral carving with foliate motifs, typical of the late 18th century neoclassical taste. The seat and backrest are padded and covered in vertically striped fabric with floral motifs, probably not period. The front and rear legs are strongly shaped "saber-shaped", with a slender and dynamic profile that gives lightness to the whole.
The structure is in solid walnut, well worked and preserved in its original patina. All the chairs need conservative restoration work, especially regarding stability and upholstery.
