This work offers a fascinating carnival scene against the backdrop of a Venetian view, attributable to the production of the 1920s-1930s. This temporal placement is reflected in the unmistakable reference to similar works: just think of the Venetian panels of the Caffè Martini or those that decorate the walls of the Caffè Aragno in Rome. This painting illustrates the contrast between external elegance and the baseness of the compliments paid by three "Siori" to a young woman. The scene demonstrates, once again, how Cherubini was accustomed to proposing two interpretations in the same subject at the same time: "The serious and the facetious".
