"Joseph Johnson" pocket watch, 1856.
Joseph Johnson of Liverpool was a very successful watchmaker.
He worked in Liverpool from approximately 1795 to 1827. After his death on March 2, 1827, his wife Mary, his son Joseph Johnson, and grandsons Joseph Johnson Cashen and Joseph Johnson Norris continued his work at least until 1857.
His watches are of high quality. He is credited with inventing several improvements to pocket watch design and watch movement design.
His watches were commonly used on American railroads.
White enamel dial with Roman numerals signed "Railway timekeeper quick beat".
Minerals glass.
High-quality movement with gilded plate and dust cover, engraved bridge, English lever escapement with fusee and large transparent rubies held in place with screws (also called "Liverpool Jewelling").
On the dial, at number 7, there is a small lever that allows you to stop the balance wheel and stop the watch (Stopwatch).
Equipped with a key for winding and adjusting.
Savonette case with Guilloché work in 925 silver, hallmarked City of Birmingham year 1856.
Working button on the crown to open the cover.
Excellent condition.
