Item Description
Drop-leaf table in walnut. Four legs tapering downwards support an overhanging top made up of two superimposed arched planes. The legs are joined to a high band. The table, of very simple construction, has no decoration whatsoever, leaving the task of decoration to the beautiful proportions. This piece of furniture, called a 'drop-leaf table', allows the table surface area to be doubled through a rotation and opening mechanism of the top itself. The table has no drawers, but during the rotation of the top reveals a storage compartment inside. Very common in the 18th century, they were also very successful throughout the 19th century. In this case, the furniture is part of a late 18th century production.
Repainting is recommended.
