Description:
Lidio Ajmone, "Silence among the Cypresses," oil on canvas, signed, Early 1900s. Signed at lower left. On the back, there is a stamp from the Regoni Gallery in Turin and a label with a number, suggesting the painting may have been exhibited. Measurements: Framed H 84 x W 74 cm / Canvas 64 x 54 cm This painting by Lidio Ajmone depicts a serene natural landscape of central Italy, characterized by tall cypress and pine trees, typical of the Mediterranean area. The work presents a harmonious composition, where the green vegetation alternates with the blue tones of the sky, creating a peaceful and bright atmosphere. In the foreground, we can observe an expanse of grass and shrubs, with plays of light and shadow giving depth and three-dimensionality to the scene. Tall and slender trees frame the view and lead the eye toward a background in which ancient ruins can be glimpsed, likely the remains of Roman buildings, consistent with the historical landscapes of Lazio or Umbria. Ajmone's painting technique, with soft brushstrokes and shaded details, accentuates the stillness of the landscape and captures the natural essence of the place, without excessive detail. The use of light and color suggests a daytime moment, probably morning or afternoon, when the light is clear and gently envelops the landscape.  Translated
