The body returns to the earth, circa 1932  Translated
Description:
THAYAHT (Ernesto Michahelles) (Florence, 1893 – Marina di Pietrasanta, 1959) The body returns to the earth, circa 1932 Aluminum, height 30 cm, overall dimensions 47x42 cm Provenance: Michahelles Heirs Exhibitions: THAYAHT The present future. Curated by S.Foschini and G.Cribiori, IV^ Biennale of drawing of Rimini, Gambalunga Library, Galleria dell’immagine, Rimini, May 4 to July 28, 2024 Bibliography: Thayaht -  The eye of the future. Works 1917/1958, edited by G.Cribiori, 9cento Milano Edizioni, 2024, table 95, pp.232/235 Work registered with the Thayaht-Ram Association.   Conceived presumably around 1932, as demonstrated by other sculptures from that time, such as Liberation from the Earth or Flight Project, this work represents the most extreme point reached in the synthetic evolution of Thayaht's sculpture, who, with his usual intellectual refinement, uses an abstract language to address a theme imbued with sacredness and mysticism. Thus, the artist attempts to write sensations through forms and their interaction. In some respects, the work has affinities with the Carrovela project that started around 1930. It is interesting to note how Thayaht's work contrasts with that of Regina Cassolo, with whom he shares the use of aluminum slats; the two had the opportunity to meet thanks to the exhibition experience at the futurist pavilion set up at the Venice Biennale in 1930. Regina, wife of the painter Luigi Bracchi, proposed a two-dimensional sculpture, created after endless studies, drawings and tests.   The volume Thayaht -  The eye of the future.
