Giuseppe Casciaro, "Country Road," oil on panel, 20th century  Translated
Description:
Giuseppe Casciaro, "Country Road," oil on panel, 20th century GIUSEPPE CASCIARO (1863 - 1945). Country road. On the back stamp Giuseppe Casciaro Naples. In Casciaro's works, mainly oils and pastels, all the virtuosity of nineteenth-century Neapolitan painting shines through, with obvious post-Impressionist references, the painter being no stranger to the great avant-gardes of the nineteenth century, particularly the French. Measurements: Framed H 46 x W 37 x D 3 / Board H 27 x W 17.5 cm Received his first painting lessons from painter Paolo Emilio Stasi of Spongano. Attracted by the Neapolitan artistic climate, he moved to Naples and graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts, where he became a student of masters Filippo Palizzi, Gioacchino Toma, Domenico Morelli and Stanislao Lista. Also in the Neapolitan capital, where he came into contact with artists of great charisma and skill, in 1927 he founded the "Gruppo Flegreo," a group of promising young painters. He participated in major national and international exhibitions from Milan to Venice to Naples, from Turin to Palermo, as well as Berlin, Paris, Barcelona and Munich. His delicate pastels and frothy oil paintings mainly depict visions and landscapes of the Amalfi Coast, Naples, Ischia and Capri, as well as the impassable eastern coast of Salento between Santa Cesarea, Castro and Santa Maria di Leuca, a land to which Casciaro has always felt connected.  Translated
