Antique large Sardinian widow's black shawl (cm. 270x250) complete with fringes made entirely by hand with about 2500 threads interwoven. It is called 'su mucadore', the complement to the traditional Sardinian costume used by widows on feast days: made in the mid-1900s, it is finished with long knotted macramé fringes. Widows still wear the simple black shawl, strictly without decorations: these quadrangular handkerchiefs with fringes are worn folded in two and placed over handkerchiefs, with the edges falling on the bust (weighs kg.1.250). The shawl alone measures cm.160x140, while the fringes measure cm.55 (photo No. 4), of which cm.10 is the macramé (photo No. 7) and cm.45 is the fringes alone. It is in excellent condition.
