Alabaster statuette from the second half of the 15th century, reproducing the simulacrum of the Madonna of Trapani.  Translated
Description:
Interesting sculpture of the Madonna and Child surmounted by crowns, reproducing the simulacrum of the Madonna of Trapani attributed to the workshop of Pisano. This votive sculpture may have been sculpted in the second half of the 15th century within the workshop of the Gagini family, an illustrious family of artists and sculptors originally from Ticino and active in Genoa, Calabria, but especially in Sicily, where through their works they made a strong contribution to the development of a "renaissance" language on the island. The statuette has clear traces of gold highlights. The crown of the Madonna and a portion of the corner to the left of the base appear to have been reconstructed with another material in ancient times. Its measurement is 32 cm. We attach to the sale guarantee of historical authenticity of the work. Follow our proposals of ancient art on the website www.antichitabompadre.com  Translated
