The Girls of Peace, 1961, plaster, work by Alberto Colognato.
Alberto Colognato (Verona 1912 - Milan 1996), also known as "the Blond", participated in several group shows of the Society of Fine Arts, at the Bevilacqua La Masa and some trade union exhibitions. However, he soon moved away from them, considering them places and worldly occasions where one's art was not presented, but only one's person and the ability to convince the public or the critics. Precisely because of his reclusiveness and shyness, Alberto Colognato's work is little known, but analysis reveals an artistic personality who looked carefully at the artistic experiences of Hans Arp, Max Ernst, Henry Moore, Henri Laurens.
Alberto Colognato was particularly fascinated by materials. After his death, many exhibitions have been organized in Brera and Verona, at the Galleria allo Scudo, which dedicated a retrospective to him in 2002.
His works are deep, dense and impenetrable sculptures. The artist's goal is to create an original articulation of space.
The work measures 47 cm H, 35 cm W and 17 cm D.
