Thalia, circa 1935  Translated
Description:
ARTURO CARRERA (Milan, 1897 - after 1937) Thalia, circa 1935 Bronze, height 43 cm Signed on the base "A.M.Carrera" Thalia (Ancient Greek: T??e?a, Tháleia, Latin: Thalia) was one of the great muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne: she who presides over comedy in Greek mythology. She is also associated with the more severe satire as in Monti's Musogonia "and Thalia who scourges and laughs at error" (v. 200). She is believed to be the mother of the Corybantes, fathered by Apollo.  Translated
