Polymnia (in ancient Greek: Πολυμνία Polymnía) is a figure from Greek mythology, one of the nine Muses, daughters of Zeus and Mnemosyne.
Polymnia presides over orchestics, pantomime, and dance associated with sacred and heroic song. She is sometimes also associated with rhetoric, memory, geometry, and history.
The typical iconography depicts her as a young woman with a devoted appearance, wrapped in a veil and cloak, with her head encircled by a crown of pearls.
Polymnia is also credited with the invention of agriculture.
