The Antique Flower Paintings category features an Oil Painting On Canvas from the 19th century, XIX century.
It is a pleasant still life depicting a bouquet of various colored flowers with Dahlias and Chrysanthemums recently picked and ready to be elegantly arranged in an elegant decorated ceramic vase.
The painting on canvas is signed on the lower right P. Valmon, a pseudonym used by Henri Cauchois.
Cauchois Eugène Henri (1850-1911) was a French painter from Rouen who painted many Still Lifes of flowers, Landscapes and Seascapes.
The painter was a pupil of Cabanel and Duboc and began exhibiting his works at the Salon Des Artistes Français from 1874.
He received many medals during his career: one in 1889, a bronze medal in 1900 and, finally, receives another recognition in 1904. The painter devoted himself mainly to flower painting.
Many of his paintings are exhibited in various French museums such as the Museum of Louviers and the Museum of Rouen.
The oil painting has a Gilded Frame in Gold Leaf from the 19th century. The painting and the gilded frame have been restored.
