PAIR OF LARGE 19TH CENTURY DUTCH STILL LIFES WITH FLOWERS AND FRUIT - oils on canvas (NEW ENTRY)  Translated
Description:
Author: Dutch School The author of these two beautiful paintings renders the fruit and flowers they paint with the utmost realism, placing their "still lifes" on rocks, creating a grand scenic effect. The expression "natura morta" (still life) is translated into English as "still life," meaning immobile or suspended life, and is a more appropriate definition to describe these compositions of flowers and fruit. The painter, in fact, had to wait for the various seasons to paint from life and thus be able to compose their two works. If we notice, there are flowers and fruits that do not belong to the same time of year. Therefore, in painting, they had to wait and therefore "suspend" painting while waiting for some flowers to bloom and the fruit to be harvested. In both paintings, there are spring flowers such as tulips, daffodils, peonies, primroses, dahlias (almost summer) and roses. The summer fruit represented by peaches, which are also placed in a very fine glass fruit bowl together with sprigs and bunches of grapes, autumn fruits, such as apples, pears and plums. In the other painting, the peaches can be seen inside a white ceramic plate with blue decorations, again in the company of a bunch of black grapes and a vine shoot and, lying on the rock, apples and pears. Ideal for dining room or living room walls. Art frames Oils on canvas Holland - 19th century (ca.) Measurements: Height cm. 150 - Width cm. 118 € 7,300.00 - The price is per pair MEANING OF FLOWERS The TULIP: symbol of perfect union and therefore true love, but also of wealth because, when it arrived in Holland, it was the prerogative of a few and considered luxurious. The DAFFODIL: its meaning is rebirth, renewal. Security and self-love. The PEONY: It embodies love, affection, prosperity, honor, nobility of soul and even peace. The PRIMROSE: the small primrose has the great meaning, blooming at the end of winter, of the rebirth of life. The DAHLIA: its flowering accompanies us from June, July until the first frosts and expresses gratitude and recognition. www.palazzodelbuonsignore.com https://www.romagnavirtualtour.it/virtual-tour-palazzo-del-buon-signore/  Translated
