Terracotta Geisha Sculpture by Achille Tamburlini, late 19th century, height 50 cm  Translated
Description:
Antique and beautiful Geisha sculpture from the late 19th and early 20th century, made of terracotta with an electrolysis technique, coated with a layer of copper. Signed by the sculptor Achille Tamburlini, a sculptor, painter, and decorator born in Trieste in 1873. He studied at the Brera Academy and completed his training at the Munich Academy. He worked mainly in Venice, where he participated in the V Biennale with his partner Raffaele Carbonaro. In the 1910s, he founded a ceramics factory with Carbonaro. Given the thriving results of his artistic and decorative activity, he was entrusted with founding the goldsmith school within the Higher School of Applied Arts in Venice. He created many sculptures with patriotic subjects, also commissioned by Gabriele D'Annunzio, who appointed him his personal "war sculptor." Tamburlini, in fact, created several sculptures for the Vate, including, in 1905, the monument to Francesco Querini, who disappeared in the Duke of Abruzzi's expedition to the North Pole. This statue is still on display in the Municipal Gardens of Venice. Height 50 cm Euro 580 For information, purchase, or reservation, call 3772652318  Translated
