Imposing and very important credenza originating from the famous noble family from Viterbo, the "CALABRESI FAMILY", recovered from a hunting lodge belonging to the same family. The wood is all solid and made of walnut burl with beautiful open-grain veining on the panels, columns, and fluted pilasters with leaf capitals. Behind the piece of furniture, there are various inscriptions, one with the signature of its maker, Angelo Celestini, an artisan from Viterbo, dated May 25, 1883, and furthermore a dedication to "Pio IX King of Rome 1883". Pope Pius IX was the last King of Rome, and his pontificate was the longest in the history of the Church after Saint Peter, he died in 1878. In 1883, his successor, Pope Leo XIII, wanted to pay homage to this important Pontiff, WHO WENT DOWN IN HISTORY FOR HAVING proclaimed the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, was later beatified in 2000 by Pope John Paul II. The furniture was in fact commissioned by the Calabresi family in 1883, precisely in honor of the Pope, as per the dedication. The beautiful upper cartouche, masterfully carved, depicts a crowned coat of arms, with the date 1722 engraved on the back. Furthermore, in various parts on the back of the cartouche, the date 1722 and the name of its maker are again present: "FECE FRA' GIO BATTISTA ROMA" and a further engraving to "PADRE AMADEO DI ROMA ANNO 1722 GUARDIANO", probably coming from some convent or church, which was in the possession of the Calabresi Family.
