Cécile Arnaux was born in Foix in the first half of the 19th century, a student of Ch. Chaplin, a specialist in genre scenes. Her first documented appearance was at the Paris Salon of 1861. Among the best-known works, Bénézit cites "La toilette" and "i primi giochi" (the first games).
