The painting is an excellent example of the aesthetic taste achieved by the workshop of Francesco Lavagna, active in Naples in the early 18th century, a "flower painter" among the protagonists of the Neapolitan school of the 18th century, whose training, similarly to Gaspare Lopez, took place at the studio of Andrea Belvedere. ---------
The canvas documents the expressive qualities as well as the great rocaille talent of the painter, capable of a chromatic sensitivity of considerable visual impact, enhanced by the skillful play of glazes and layers of material.
The scenographic structure is typical of the painter's repertoire, who loved to create his floral compositions, often combined with other types of plants including vegetables, fruits, or mushrooms, set en plein air inside gardens. ----------
The flower bouquets are harmoniously placed inside vases or baskets arranged with apparent randomness.
