Inlaid wood center table, France, early 19th century  Translated
Description:
Inlaid wood center table, France, early 19th century Measurements: W 56 cm x D 40 x H 73.5 Price: confidential negotiation Item accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. This elegant inlaid wood center table was made in France in the early 19th century. The rectangular top has shaped and wavy sides bordered by a gilded bronze molding. Veneered in wood skillfully positioned to exploit the characteristic grains, it has a leather top in the center with gold decorations. The under-top band is inlaid with exotic wood essences of different colors whose combination creates landscapes with houses and trees inscribed within wooden frames that follow the wavy pattern of the furniture. On the front there is a small drawer, with a lock escutcheon in chiseled and gilded bronze. The legs, veneered and inlaid, are graceful and arched and end with chiseled and gilded bronze ferrules. The coffee table is inspired by the models of the French cabinetmaker Charles Topino (born around 1742 - Paris, December 15, 1803), appointed master cabinetmaker in 1773. His furniture is characterized by inlays depicting still lifes, influenced by oriental lacquered panels. His works are visible at the Palace of Versailles. This type of center table is particularly decorative and valuable for the type of veneer and inlays. It can be placed against a wall or, thanks to its center finish, placed in a living room or study, next to armchairs and sofas.  Translated
