Pandolfo Reschi, c. 1643 - 1696, scene of daily life, signed on the thigh of the horse in the center of the scene SOLD  Translated
Description:
Oil painting on canvas, 65.5 x 51 cm, depicting a "Scene of daily life" by Pandolfo Reschi (Danzig c. 1643 - Florence, August 1696), signed on the thigh of the horse in the center of the scene. "The artist of Polish origin, Pandolph Resch, better known by the Italianized name of Pandolfo Reschi, was originally a soldier who came to Italy at the age of twenty. He trained in Rome between about 1660 and 1668 with Jacques Courtois il Borgognone and Salvator Rosa and lived in the house of Cavalier Tempesta. [...] Among the artist's favorite themes were battles, landscapes, genre painting with an early vocation for vedutism. The painting is a splendid unpublished work signed with the "P" of Pandolfo on the thigh of the white horse in the foreground, with a fortified medieval village of typically Tuscan architecture, towards which three knights of rank converge." - Galleria Giamblanco Catalogue, Italian Painting from the Seventeenth to the Eighteenth Century: twenty years of activity, Allemandi, Turin, 2013, pp. 34-35.
