Pair of Venetian oil paintings on canvas, circa mid-18th century.
The two canvases depict two biblical subjects: Jacob dreaming of the ladder to heaven (Genesis) and The sacred burning bush (Exodus).
During a stop on the road to Carran, Jacob dreams, while sleeping, about a ramp that leads from the earth towards heaven, traversed by angels, with God the Father at the top. The scene is set within a typically Venetian landscape.
After fleeing, Moses lives for some years in the desert as a shepherd. One day he reaches Mount Horeb (Sinai), which in Hebrew means arid, and is attracted by a burning bush that seems never to be extinguished.
The dimensions of the paintings are cm. 84x113. While including the antique frames cm. 92x120
